Understanding Funding Information Section in SPARCRequest (Work in Progress)

This Guide is meant to provide guidance in filling out the Funding Information Section of the Step 2 in submitting request a SPARCRequest.

 

All studies at MUSC are funded in some way. Any services that are requested through SPARC that have a price are funded by some type of funding source. The only types of unfunded research/studies at MUSC are “Student-Funded Research” (We will go into further details later on in the guide).

Proposal Funding Status

Please select the funding Status of your study currently:

  1. Pending Funding: Meant for studies that are acquiring funding for their study or waiting to receive their funding

  2. Funded: is for studies that have a clear funding source

Funding Source

This field is where a research team would select exactly what type of funding they have

 

Sponsor Name

This field is where a research team will enter the sponsor of their study or services

 

There are several different types of funding sources that MUSC recognizes. The table below will provide a breakdown of each type of funding.

College Department

  1. If your study is funded by departmental or college funds

  2. If you don’t have funding then your study is being covered by the department

Federal

If your study is directly funded by government source such as NIH or DoD

Foundation/Organization

If your study is funded directly by Not-for-Profits and 501c3 organizations

Industry Initiated/Industry Sponsored

  1. If your study is funded directly by corporations/companies

  2. If your study is requested a corporation/company

Investigator Initiated/Industry Sponsored

  1. If and investigator’s research is directly funded by corporation/companies

  2. If an investigator’s unique research idea is funded by a corporation/company

Internal Funded Pilot Projects*

  1. If your study is funded via a voucher or other internally funded source. At MUSC these are usually pilot projects

Student Funded Research

Study being done by a student without additional funding

The other fields in this section are considered optional fields that can be completed if the information is available

These Fields only appear when the funding source is Federal

Grant Code

Research Team will enter the Grant Code. Grant Code is the
