Description:
The College of Medicine Clinician Scientist K12 Program supports the mentored career development of scholars holding a research or health-professional doctoral degree or its equivalent. The goal of the program is to foster the discipline of clinical research and by doing so increase the clinical research capacity to expedite clinical and translational research. The K12 program will accomplish this through a mentored program bridging clinical training with research independence.
Eligibility:
Degrees: Junior faculty (Instructor or Assistant Professor) with an MD or DO degree who are committed to a career in clinical research
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
Employment: Must devote 40% full-time professional effort
Support: 2 years of salary support and fringe (subject to NIH salary cap); $20,000/year in Research Project & Training funds
Additional Information:
The COM K12 award is available to eligible early career faculty staff at MUSC - those holding VA appointments must obtain prior approval before submission; contact Diana Lee-Chavarria for approval.
Mentors must have MUSC faculty appointments, but consultants may be selected from other academic institutions.
