Milestone: Highlights from 2018 SPARCRequest Open Source Governance Retreat

Dear SPARC OS Community,

We are proud to announce that MUSC hosted the 2nd annual SPARCRequest Open Source Governance Retreat on June 20th to 21st, 2018 in Charleston, SC. 5 CTSA Hubs (Iowa, Utah, Children’s National, Case Western, MUSC) and 1 IDeA State CTR Hub (LA CaTS) participated, which represent more than 21 institutions.

During the retreat, the members of the 3 Open Source Governance Subcommittees (Steering, Operational, and Technical) reviewed the success and progress of the SPARC OS initiative during the past year, summarized lessons learnt, and discussed the opportunities going forward.

The highlights of our 2018 retreat includes:

SPARC Implementation phase review of attending Institutions;
Summary of achievements on Open Source governance during the past year, including the business model and feature voting/review process;
New SPARC modules contributed via the OS community, such as SPARCFunding, SPARCForms, and Habitat integration, Cloud instance;
Evaluation discussion and Readiness checklist review;
Publication and future opportunities kickstart discussion.
