Discussion:

• https://sparcrequest.atlassian.net/browse/SPOSDEV-1340 - Governance meeting request for Site Admins to edit and add professional organizations options as active, non-reserved permissible values. Account for any requirements to maintain logic and collapsed list from responses.

  • Current setup cascading dropdown (institution → college → department) was added via SPARC v1.9.0.

  • Challenges:

    • Long dropdown lists for departments.

    • Database structure (prof orgs) uses parent IDs only; hierarchy tracing is complex.

  • Proposed considerations:

    • Expose professional organization table in SPARC Admin for editing (not adding), as a separate space (not permissible values).

    • Limit permissions to specific admin roles (e.g., add permission in settings).

    • Display full hierarchy (e.g., as on page columns) for clarity.

    • Potential redesign for better database structure. Such as add org_tree_display to prof org table.

  • Action: Continue discussion internally and revisit design options.
