Detailed Information:

Description:

MUSC/MUHA is the recipient of an award from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (DDCF) to improve the retention and advancement of junior physician scientists who face special challenges of balancing their professional work with caregiving responsibilities. The PERK program provides supplemental funds to eligible junior faculty to support their ongoing clinical research efforts. The goal of this program is to retain early-career physician scientists in research. PERK aims to help junior faculty sustain productivity while managing extraprofessional caregiving demands, including childcare, eldercare, and personal health concerns.

  2. Hold an MD or DO degree and have an active US medical license

  3. Be conducting a clinical research project and have existing research support ("parent grant") as Principal Investigator on a mentored career development grant, research project grant, or other equivalent research grant from a federal or non-federal source (e.g. foundation or professional society)
