  • Finishing Ruby install to test locally. Will update on how it’s going.

    • Brigette noted that in testing combined Rails/Ruby, SPARCFunding rake task seemed to have already set the statuses in permission values described in Step #2 of the Tech Doc process. Will do addl testing of this on the new server. If the upgrade doesn’t handle that step anew, Ying will add this into the rake task as a feature in a future SPARC release.

  • Upcoming Releases

    • SPARC v3.13.0 - Ruby 3.3.1 & Ruby Rails 7.0.8.1 upgrades - working on nearing end of testing these upgrades with server change, hopefully within next couple of weeks

      • Noted the order of some user facing validation message has change, so looking into this

    • RMID 1.7.0 Release

      • Mainly changes to MUSC RMID database receipt of information.

    • SPARC 3.14.0 Release will follow the Ruby/Rails upgrade and RMID

      • Still finalizing the stories, with SPARCForms notice enhancement as one planned

    • Pivotal tracker is sunsetting in April 2025, so we will be moving to a new product management tool. Most likely will be Jira as it’s used by MUSC Informatics currently and integrates with currently used products, like Confluence and MSTeams. Initially looking at topics like data migration, field mapping and which fields can be omitted, best instance to retain availability to OS members & Confluence public facing content.

    • Devs are piloting use of Docker container. OHSU uses this and Kubernetes. Iowa also reported using Docker.

    • Any Windows user have a Database tool to recommend? Ying uses MySql locally. Institution wide is their own tool.

  • Still using SPARC, but not much to report on it

  • Also uses Jira extensively. They had to go from their own instance to the shared institution’s instance, which involved heavy data migration of at least 10 years of data. Things to consider - permissions can be complex, so planning for the need; some parts are more restrictive (behind VPN); went with an external firm to do the migration; cloud storage needs; plans may generally be per user, so careful planning in who needs access.

  • Working on server and ops upgrades, then will look into SPARC upgrades to more recent versions.

  • Recently sent notices to about 150 users (service providers primarily) who have draft requests. Discussed the Unsubmitted Requests features added in a recent SPARC release to help with this that will hopefully reduce the # of users needing to be contacted about draft requests.

  • Will start looking to use SPARC surveys & forms for system and service satisfactions and intake forms. Discussed the recent SPARC feature to designate what study user role will get service request surveys, and upcoming similar design for forms. Encouraged to reach out with any questions or if a demo of these modules is desired.

  • Shared has used Jira in the past for a project and is looking to use for an upcoming one. Had a positive experience with it.

10/9/2024

  • Working through moving to new server

  • Began drafting the survey to go out to Navigation surveys post request completion. Will start there, with future plans to send out for all services.
